How Much Does Prostate Cancer Treatment Cost in Singapore in 2026?

Prostate cancer treatment in Singapore costs between USD 18,000 and USD 55,000 in 2026, depending on treatment type and cancer stage.

  • Robotic radical prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate): USD 22,000 to USD 38,000
  • External beam radiation therapy (delivered over four to eight weeks): USD 18,000 to USD 32,000
  • Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy (theranostics, for metastatic disease): USD 35,000 to USD 55,000 for a full course

These figures cover the procedure, hospital stay, specialist consultations, diagnostic imaging, and standard post-treatment monitoring. Accommodation, flights, and visa fees are additional.

Singapore's premium reflects its regulatory environment, advanced technology, and, at Raffles, a clinical governance model benchmarked against the Mayo Clinic. For some patients, that matters enormously. For others, India or Malaysia delivers equivalent outcomes at a fraction of the cost.

Best Hospitals in Singapore for Prostate Cancer Treatment

Singapore has two internationally recognised private hospitals for prostate cancer treatment, each built for a different type of case. Both are partnered with My 1Health and serve international patients from across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Icon Cancer Centre Singapore

https://my1healthstorage.blob.core.windows.net/my1health/uploads/image/r3j2mAsnP9nvbLLYzUjU63iETKGxW5nmLAHR4IYd.webp

Icon Cancer Centre is Singapore's most specialised private cancer network and one of the few hospitals in Southeast Asia offering theranostics for advanced prostate cancer.

Part of Icon Group, a global provider with 50+ centres and 35+ years in oncology clinical trials, every clinic is cancer-only. No other conditions, no divided focus.

Prostate cancer treatments at Icon Cancer Centre

1. Radiation therapy using the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator.

Delivers radiation with sub-millimetre accuracy. Icon's Triggered Imaging technique implants small markers in the prostate and tracks tumour position in real time throughout each session, protecting surrounding tissue from unnecessary radiation dose.

2. External beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and seed brachytherapy:

Iodine-125 seeds, each the size of a grain of rice, implanted directly into the prostate. Active for three to four months.

3. Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT): Reduces testosterone to slow cancer growth. Used across stages, often alongside radiation or chemotherapy.

4. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy across all prostate cancer stages.

5. Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy (theranostics): exclusively at Icon Cancer Centre at Mount Alvernia.

This therapy uses a radioactive compound that seeks out PSMA proteins, which are heavily concentrated on prostate cancer cells, and destroys them with targeted radiation.

Reserved for advanced or metastatic prostate cancer where other treatments have not worked.

6. PET CT scanning using Ga 68 PSMA: the most specific imaging available for detecting prostate cancer spread. Operated at Mount Alvernia in partnership with RadLink Diagnostic Imaging.

7. Genomic profiling and clinical trial matching: 15 trials launched at Singapore clinics since 2021. A partnership with Oncoshot automatically matches a patient's genetic profile to active trials globally. Icon is the first private cancer centre in Southeast Asia to run Investigator Initiated Trials.

Raffles Hospital Singapore

Raffles Hospital, located at 585 North Bridge Road, is the only private hospital in Singapore operating under the same Institutional Group Practice model as the Mayo Clinic.

Every prostate cancer case is reviewed by a multidisciplinary team, and all protocols are peer-reviewed and medically audited.

More than one third of its patients are international nationals, from over 100 countries.

Founded in 1976, Raffles is Singapore's largest homegrown private hospital and part of the Raffles Medical Group, a network of 4 hospitals and 100+ clinics across 12 cities and 5 countries.

For prostate cancer patients needing surgery, followed by radiation, followed by hormone therapy, the entire pathway is managed within one institution at

Prostate cancer treatments at Raffles Cancer Centre

Raffles Cancer Centre covers the full oncology pathway: screening, diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation, and hormone therapy.

1. Prostate biopsy- 2 types:

  • Transrectal biopsy (ultrasound-guided, through the rectal wall)
  • Transperineal biopsy (MRI- or CT-guided, through the perineum).

Takes 20 to 30 minutes. Results graded by the Gleason system, from Group 1 (Gleason 6, low risk) to Group 5 (Gleason 9 to 10, very high risk), which determines the treatment pathway.

2. Robotic prostatectomy: surgical removal of the prostate using robotic assistance for more precise movements, smaller incisions, and faster recovery than open surgery.

3. Radiation therapy: at Raffles Specialist Centre's dedicated radiotherapy suite.

4. Chemotherapy: two- to four-week cycles, typically four to six cycles in total.

5. Hormone therapy (ADT): reduces testosterone to slow cancer growth. Used for recurring or advanced disease, or alongside other treatments.

6. Active surveillance: for low-risk or slow-growing prostate cancer. Regular PSA blood tests, digital rectal examinations, and annual MRI scans instead of immediate treatment. Raffles lists this explicitly as a first-line option.

7. Prostate screening package: urologist consultation, kidney and prostate ultrasound, PSA blood test, and uroflowmetry. SGD 344.30 before GST (2026).

Singapore vs India vs Malaysia: Which Is Right for Your Prostate Cancer Case?

India is 60 to 70% cheaper. Malaysia is 30 to 50% cheaper. The question is not whether Singapore is expensive.

It is whether what Singapore offers is worth it for your specific case.

For many patients, it is not. For others, Singapore is the only realistic option.

Where Singapore leads

Singapore's healthcare system is among the world's most regulated, with drug approval pathways and technology access on par with Western Europe.

For prostate cancer specifically, two things separate it from the rest of the region.

1. Theranostics

Icon Cancer Centre at Mount Alvernia offers Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy, a targeted treatment for advanced or metastatic prostate cancer backed by 2 major clinical trials: the VISION trial (NCT03511664) and the TheraP trial (NCT03392428).

Not available at most hospitals in India or Malaysia.

2. Clinical governance

Raffles follows the same Group Practice model as the Mayo Clinic.

Every case is reviewed by a multidisciplinary team. Protocols are peer-reviewed. Over 1 in 3 Raffles patients are international nationals.

3. Proximity and cultural fit for Southeast Asian patients:

Singapore is 2 hours from Jakarta.

Raffles staff speak Bahasa Indonesian, serve Halal-compatible food, and have a dedicated prayer room on site.

Around 250,000 Indonesian patients use the Raffles network annually.

Where India and Malaysia win

For early- to intermediate-stage prostate cancer, top Indian hospitals match Singapore's surgical and radiation outcomes at 60 to 70% lower cost.

Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and Fortis Hospital in Delhi both run strong prostate cancer programmes.

For patients from Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, or Bangladesh where Singapore's costs are genuinely out of reach, India is the stronger recommendation.

Malaysia sits in the middle. Beacon Hospital and Sunway Medical Centre offer JCI-accredited oncology at costs below Singapore.

Neither offers theranostics or a Mayo-aligned governance model, but for standard treatment, both are credible.

How Long Does Prostate Cancer Treatment Take in Singapore?

Your time in Singapore depends entirely on your treatment. Here is what each pathway looks like.

1. Robotic radical prostatectomy

Hospital stay: 3 to 5 days. Recovery before flying: 2 to 3 weeks.

Total in Singapore: 3 to 4 weeks.

Post-operative PSA monitoring (every 3 to 6 months for 2 years) is managed by your oncologist at home, with records shared remotely.

2. External beam radiation therapy

Sessions Monday to Friday, 15 to 20 minutes each, over 4 to 8 weeks. No hospital stay required.

Total in Singapore: 4 to 8 weeks.

Icon's Varian TrueBeam linac tracks prostate position throughout each session using implanted markers, reducing radiation dose to the bladder and bowel.

3. Seed brachytherapy

A one-time procedure under general or spinal anaesthesia, taking 60 to 90 minutes.

Iodine-125 seeds implanted into the prostate, active for 3 to 4 months.

Hospital stay: 1 to 2 nights. Total in Singapore: 1 week.

4. Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy (theranostics)

Each cycle: an intravenous injection of 20 minutes, followed by 2 to 3 hours of observation.

Most patients receive 6 cycles, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart.

Each cycle requires a return visit to Singapore.

Ask the Icon team about remote follow-up options between cycles.

After treatment

All post-treatment records from Raffles and Icon are sent directly to your oncologist at home.

My 1Health coordinates post-treatment follow-up and can arrange remote second opinions if your results raise questions.

We have had patients re-engage 6-12 months after completing treatment. The support does not end at the airport.

Side effects vary by treatment. Robotic surgery may cause temporary urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction, both of which improve over weeks to months.

Radiation therapy can cause bladder and bowel irritation during the course, usually resolving within weeks of completion.

Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy's most reported side effects are dry mouth, nausea, and fatigue, most of which are minimal and manageable.

Frequently asked questions

How do I contact the international patient support team for prostate cancer treatment in Singapore?

Contact My 1Health on WhatsApp at +1 718 550 0880 or by email at [email protected]. Available 24/7.

Share your diagnosis and medical reports via WhatsApp. My 1Health forwards them to the specialist oncology board at Raffles Hospital or Icon Cancer Centre.

The hospital reviews your case and sends a tailored treatment plan and cost estimate. My 1Health then coordinates your appointment, visa, travel, and accommodation.

The service is completely free for you.

Is proton beam therapy available for prostate cancer in Singapore?

Proton beam therapy is available in Singapore but not at My 1Health's two partner hospitals.

It is offered at Singapore's National Cancer Centre, a public institution. Private sector proton therapy does not currently exist in Singapore.

If proton therapy has been specifically recommended for your case, Apollo Proton Cancer Centre in Chennai is one of the few centres in Asia offering this in a private, international patient setting at considerably lower cost. My 1Health can help you explore both options.

Can international patients get prostate cancer treatment in Singapore without a referral?

Yes. Neither Raffles Hospital nor Icon Cancer Centre requires a referral letter.

You can book directly through My 1Health using your existing diagnosis and biopsy reports. A referral from your home oncologist is useful context but not a requirement to be seen.

How does Singapore's prostate cancer treatment compare to India and Malaysia?

Singapore operates under one of the world's most regulated healthcare systems. Raffles Hospital follows the same institutional governance framework as the Mayo Clinic. Icon Cancer Centre is the only private cancer provider in Singapore running Investigator-Initiated Trials and offers theranostics for advanced prostate cancer.

Apollo Proton Cancer Centre and HCG Hospitals in Bangalore deliver comparable outcomes for early- to intermediate-stage prostate cancer at 60 to 70% lower cost.

Singapore is the stronger choice for advanced disease, clinical trial access, or proximity and cultural fit for Southeast Asian patients. India is stronger for cost-sensitive patients with standard-stage disease.

What is a Gleason score and how does it affect my treatment in Singapore?

The Gleason score grades prostate cancer aggressiveness from biopsy tissue. According to the American Cancer Society, scores range from 6 (low risk, Group 1) to 9 to 10 (very high risk, Group 5).

  • Gleason 6 (Group 1): Active surveillance may be recommended over immediate treatment.
  • Gleason 7 (Groups 2 and 3): Surgery or radiation therapy. Both available at Raffles and Icon.
  • Gleason 8 to 10 (Groups 4 and 5): Surgery or radiation combined with hormone therapy (ADT). For metastatic cases, theranostics at Icon becomes relevant.

Share your Gleason score when you contact My 1Health. It is the most useful single piece of information for matching you to the right hospital and treatment.

How long will I need to stay in Singapore for prostate cancer treatment?

Your stay depends on treatment type:

  • Robotic prostatectomy: 3 to 4 weeks total (3 to 5 days in hospital, 2 to 3 weeks recovery before flying)
  • External beam radiation therapy: 4 to 8 weeks (daily outpatient sessions, Monday to Friday)
  • Seed brachytherapy: approximately 1 week
  • Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy: 1 day per cycle; most patients complete 6 cycles over several months, each requiring a return visit

My 1Health coordinates serviced apartment accommodation for extended stays and manages remote monitoring after you return home.

Does My 1Health charge a fee for coordinating prostate cancer treatment in Singapore?

No. The service is completely free for patients. The hospital covers My 1Health's coordination fee.

You pay exactly what you would pay if you went directly to Raffles Hospital or Icon Cancer Centre. No markup. No hidden fees.

This is My 1Health's same-price guarantee, applied to every patient in every country in our network.
